Extension and Expansion of The Homebuyer Tax Credit Program
Extension: First-time homebuyers are eligible for a $8,000 tax credit extended through April 30, 2010. The purchaser must be in contract by this date and will have until June 30, 2010 to close.
Expansion: Current homeowners are eligible for a $6,500 tax credit through April 30, 2010. Homebuyers who have a binding contract on or before that date will have until June 30 to close the transaction. Income limits for eligible homebuyers have been expanded to $125,000 for single buyers and $225,000 for couples. The purchase price of the home cannot exceed $800,000.
